UNF Student Union
Situated on a wildlife preserve, the University of North Florida offers limited space to expand. In order to meet the need of the school, the Student Union’s building footprint was minimized by stacking the program elements into two separate structures connected by a pedestrian bridge spanning an open air atrium. The atrium is designed as a common area for the students, promoting social interaction while enjoying the climate. A large canopy provides shade and diffuses direct sunlight in the majority of the atrium. The facility provides for the essential functions of the student government and organizations with offices, meeting rooms, lounges, studies, computer labs, student assistance and building services. The building also provides a wealth of student life venues such as; food court, restaurants, coffee shop, retailers, live on stage entertainment, game room, and movie theater.
