The San Marco Kiosk was designed to meet the needs of the San Marco Merchants Association, the San Marco Preservation Society, and the City of Jacksonville. All three groups desired a prominent location in San Marco to display information pertaining to San Marco shopping, dining, history, and public works projects. Design Cooperative aided in the selection of the site located on the corner of San Marco Blvd. and Balis Place in front of the historic San Marco Theatre. The design consists of three, Cor-ten steel slabs set into the paving at a slight angle away from the viewer. Each slab is bisected by an acrylic box with back lighting and a display surface. Each box is operable and secure to allow the information to be updated when desired.
